Booking an Appointment

The Practice is now working in collaboration with other local practices, Churchside Medical Practice, Roundwood Surgery, Millview Surgery and Forest Medical, to offer weekday appointments out of our core hours from 6.30pm – 8pm and Saturday mornings 8am – 12.

These are provided on a rota basis at each practice as per the "list here":/admin/resources/jan-mar-2018-rota.pdf

Consultations with the doctor are by appointment only. Surgery hours may vary to accommodate the patient’s needs.
We offer Extended Hours on Thursday's 7.30am - 8.00am with the Doctor, Practice Nurse and Health Care Assistant.

APPOINTMENTS TO SEE THE DOCTOR

Patients are seen by appointment only. As a result of patient feedback on the appointment system, you are able to book up to two working days in advance. This service is being monitored and may change in accordance with patient needs.

If you think your problem is of an urgent medical nature that cannot wait for the next routine appointment, please telephone the practice as early as possible and you will be either given an appointment for that morning, or the doctor may carry out a telephone consultation to assess the urgency of your condition.

Appointments are for one person only.

We aim to see you within 30 minutes of your appointment time. HOWEVER, delays can occur and we appreciate your patience if this happens.

Routine appointments are 10 minutes in duration.

Emergency appointments are 10 minutes in duration and the doctor will only have time to deal with the urgent problem and no other problems, unless they are connected.

APPOINTMENTS TO SEE THE NURSE AND HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT

Appointment times for the nurse vary depending on the nature of the appointment. Please enquire at reception. It is helpful to the receptionist to know the reason for the appointment, so that they are able to allocate the correct amount of time.

Appointments with the nurse are bookable in advance.

TEMPORARY RESIDENTS

If you need medical assistance and are away from home, or home from University or College, you can see the doctor as a temporary resident. This will not affect your registration with your usual GP.

CHANGE OF PERSONAL DETAILS

If you change your address or telephone number please call into the surgery to complete a change of details form, so that we are able to update your computer records.

If you move a considerable distance from the practice, the GP may decide that you need to register with a new GP closer to your new address. This decision is at the GP’s discretion.

MOBILE PHONES

Please could you ensure that mobile phones are turned off during your visit to the Practice, especially during your consultation with the Doctor or Nurse.

FAILING TO ATTEND

If you fail to attend an appointment without informing the surgery, you could be contributing to the high number of wasted appointments we have. If appointments are cancelled, they can be used for someone else. If they are not they are just a waste of the Doctor or Nurse’s time.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU CANCEL YOUR APPOINTMENT IF YOU CANNOT ATTEND. HELP US REDUCE THE WASTED SURGERY TIME.

EXTENDED GP ACCESS

Extended GP access service is accessible 7 days per week. If you require an appointment on a Sunday please enquire with the reception team.
